Did you know Seattle historically has a large Scandinavian population, especially in neighborhoods like Ballard?

In the late 1800's and early 1900's there was a large surge in immigration from Scandinavian countries to the US. Many of these migrants chose to settle in the Pacific Northwest where the natural landscape was reminiscent of the fjords and forests they loved back home, and allowed them to continue trades that had been in their families for generations like logging, fishing, boat building, and agriculture.

As a nod to this Pacific Northwest history our Skandia Gift Box (named to honor an old Ballard newspaper that is no longer in print) includes Lingonberry Sauce, a sauce traditionally served with meat in Scandinavian cuisine.
We also offer our Lingonberry Sauce for sale individually for anyone wanting to give it a try!
